Place a Hold

You can place a hold online through our catalogue by logging into My GPL Account.

Placing a hold puts you on the waitlist for an item that is currently unavailable or that you want put aside for you. The Library will notify you by phone or email notification when the item is ready for you to pick up. We keep items on hold for three business days.

How to place holds

Library members can place a hold in-person, by phone or through My GPL Account. Place holds on Grimsby Public Library items and on items belonging to other Libraries in Niagara Cooperative (LiNC) libraries through our catalogue.

  1. Sign into your My GPL Account using your Grimsby Public Library card.
  2. Search for a title in the connected library catalogue. You can filter your search to find items at your home library, other LiNC libraries, or the entire Libraries in Niagara Cooperative.
  3. In the search results, click the “place hold” button located beside the title and follow the steps to complete.

To place a hold in-person or by phone, have your Library card, the title and the author information ready. Call or visit us to ask a staff member to place the hold for you.

Notification

We will notify you by phone, email or text notification when the held item is available for you to pick up. Please tell staff next time you visit if you would like to change your notification method.

Picking up your hold

  • Pick your item up on the hold shelf located beside the library service desk
  • Held items are shelved alphabetically by patron last name
  • Check out your hold at the front desk before you leave
