About the Series

The Grimsby Author Series (GAS) is a biannual speaker series celebrating Canadian literary talent. Presented in a Spring Season and Fall Season, each event features one or two authors in moderated conversation. Events take place at the Grimsby Public Library’s Carnegie Building, held after regular library hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each Grimsby Author Series event features two authors in moderated conversations exploring their latest books, creative processes, and ideas. Audience members are invited to participate during a Q and A period, enjoy local wine and light refreshments, and connect with the authors during a book signing at the end of the evening.

The Grimsby Author Series welcomes critically-acclaimed, award-winning, and internationally recognized authors from across all genres. Each season is different, but our authors are usually Canadian, or live in Canada, and have recently released a new work. They are often seen on bestseller lists across the country. The Grimsby Author Series is made possible through the dedication of volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. The Library is grateful to everyone who contributes their time, support, and enthusiasm to help make each event a success.

There are six events throughout the year, three in the spring and three in the fall. The fall season usually takes place in September, October, and November, and the spring season takes place in March, April and May.

The Grimsby Author Series began in 2002, originally created by the Grimsby Public Library Board to help fundraise for a new local library and art gallery, while promoting reading and literacy in the community. Over the years, GAS has grown through several venues as its audience expanded, including the Grimsby Pumphouse, Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, and the Casablanca Winery Inn.

Today, GAS events are hosted at the Carnegie Building, taking place after regular library hours and continuing a tradition that has welcomed more than 20,000 attendees and featured nearly 150 Canadian authors.
