Libraries in Niagara Cooperative
The Grimsby Public Library (GPL) is part of the Libraries in Niagara Cooperative (LiNC).
What does being a LiNC patron mean?
GPL patrons are LiNC patrons too! Being a LiNC patron comes with the following benefits:
- LiNC libraries share an interactive online catalogue where you can search individual libraries, or the collections of the entire Cooperative
- LiNC patrons can place holds on items from other member libraries and have them delivered to your home library through our online catalogue
- LiNC patrons can use their home library card at any of the member libraries to check out their physical collections, including books, magazines, movies and more. Online resources are currently not shared among the LiNC libraries
- LiNC patrons can use the online catalogue to place holds, renew items, create reading lists, track reading history and more
- LiNC patrons can return checked out items at any member library branch
- LiNC patrons can pay item replacement costs at any member branch
What is LiNC?
The Libraries in Niagara Cooperative (LiNC) was established in 2010. This cooperative library consortium, consisting of nine Niagara public libraries was created to share an open source library catalogue system called Evergreen. It eliminates the need for individual LiNC member libraries to select, mount, manage and upgrade a singly owned library system.
LiNC is a collaborative venture and succeeds due to the efforts of its members. LiNC’s integrated library system is housed and managed in one location, and LiNC’s libraries contribute annually to costs associated with the integrated library system. Costs to manage a comparable proprietary system would be significantly more.
The following libraries are part of LiNC:
